World No.1 Stephen Hendry came back from the brink of defeat to beat Welshman
Darren Morgan 9-8 and claim the 72,000 first prize. Morgan had to
settle with 32,000. John Parrott
had the high break of the tournament with a 129.
Morgan was at the table when 8-7 ahead and only needed to clear up to
retain his title. He missed a pink though, and Hendry won instead.
This was the Scot's 64th major title, but only his second Irish Masters win.
It was his 11th successive win in a final! This once again
proves the fact that he's best when there's a lot at stake. Whoever wants his
World crown coming April will have to beat him in the early rounds, I think.
