John Parrott booked a place in the quarter-finals as he made his sixth win in seven meetings with Ronnie O'Sullivan. "Ronnie can play better than that and I wasn't at my best. But so far I've had a topsy-turny season with peaks and troughs," he said.
O'Sullivan had no excuse: "The way I played I wouldn't have beaten the world No 200."

Ken Doherty led 4-3 against Stephen Hendry and in frame eight Hendry failed with two safety shots on a red (two misses). Had he missed a third time, he would have conceded the frame and the match, but instead he managed to come back and take the last two frames to win 5-4.

Peter Ebdon took the last three frames to complete a remarkable recovery after Davis led 4-2 and the 55-10 in the seventh frame. The six-times world champion looked set as he potted a red - but unluckily went in-off.

The wild card entry Joe Swail won the last four frames against James Wattana, the Thailand Open winner, and said: "It's been a frustrating season for me." "In desperation I swapped to a cue I hadn't used since last summer but I'll be sticking with it now for a long time. I never expected to get this far," he added.

Peter Ebdon burst into tears after claiming the biggest pay-cheque of his career with a superb 9-8 win over world champion Stephen Hendry.
The young Englishman looked dead and buried at 4-0, 5-1 and 8-6 down but staged a brilliant comeback.
Ebdon said: "It's the greatest win of my career so far. I can't expect this form from myself all the time."
Hendry, who conceded the final frame with two reds remaining, said: "Peter played some fantastic snooker. He gained in strength."
