dejected Hendry said afterwards. "I feel like chucking it in when I
play like that against people who should not even be in the same
room," he added.

Jimmy White beat Andy Hicks after a tense eighth frame. The score was
52-52 with only the black remaining. Andy Hicks took on a tough pot
but missed and left a simple cut for White to win the match.
Stephen Hendry's conqueror Mark Johnston-Allen beat Mark Williams 5-1
and said: "I was shocked when I read his remarks (Hendry's). It was a
disrespectful thing to say about a professional player. Obviously he
was cheesed off but that is not an excuse."

John Higgins needed only 75 minutes of play to beat Ken Doherty 5-0
with breaks of 106, 101, 80 and 78 in the first four frames.
After beating Peter Ebdon 5-2, Steve Davis said: "Peter is the bravest
player I've ever played against. He's definetely got the heart to go
and win the world title soon."
Jimmy White had previously played Nigel Bond six times and lost the
last five, but yesterday he won 5-2. White said: "I was pleased to
close that door because when he came back to 3-2 I was a litte bit
anxious."
Mark Johnston-Allen continued his giant-killing as he sent Ronnie
O'Sullivan crashing out. O'Sullivan battled in the seventh frame,
gaining the three snookers he needed to stay alive, but then failed to
clear up. Johnston-Allen now faces Jimmy White in the quarter-finals.
